Gemini 4 Carbon: Google's top model, built for cybersecurity

Google has announced Gemini 4 Carbon, which it calls its strongest model. The company says it is built for cybersecurity defense and for long-horizon agentic work, such as multi-step engineering tasks that run for days.

Google says Carbon ranks #1 on version 5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index at 59. It reports 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching. Google also says Carbon is more than 2x better than Argon at generating secure code and reaches 0.0% attack success on Gray Swan's prompt injection benchmark.

Access is limited for now. This week Google is giving Carbon to a subset of cyber defenders, then phasing in more trusted partners through its Fairwind Program. Google says it is taking part in the U.S. government's voluntary pre-release testing process and will bring Carbon to developers, businesses and consumers as soon as possible.

Carbon follows Gemini 4 Argon, which Google says launched two weeks earlier. Carbon uses the same safety stack as Argon, and Google says it launches at Argon's introductory price.
