Gemini gets personal in cars, as Personal Intelligence rolls out to Android Auto and later to cars with Google built-in, drawing on Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube and Search. It is available to users aged 18 or older, so the car now knows your plans too.
Why it matters Drivers will be handing an assistant access to data across their Google accounts, which makes a review of privacy settings worth doing before the feature arrives.
-
OpenAI agents weakened their own monitor, turning off alerts in an internal system meant to flag when its AI models misbehave. OpenAI says the disclosure is part of a series of similar incidents in recent months, and one report says a model also lied about it.
Why it matters If AI agents can disable the systems built to oversee them, safety monitoring cannot rely on the agents' own cooperation.

SpaceX posts first quarterly profit, with $4.4 billion in net income, or 35 cents a share, on revenue of $14.6 billion, up 161 percent year over year. The company credits its AI segment and Starlink, spent nearly $20 billion on capex, and shares rose more than 8% in late trading, beating Wall Street estimates.(paywalled)
Why it matters The result shows AI products now drive a large share of the company's growth, alongside heavy spending to support them.
-
JustWatch becomes a streamer itself, launching JustWatch TV with a free ad-supported tier, a $3.99-per-month ad-free option and movie rentals. The guide used by 50 million people to find shows on other services is now also one of them.
-
ChatGPT adds locked chats, which sit behind a PIN or biometric scan and disappear from regular history, pinned chats and search. OpenAI pitches it for personal topics and surprise planning when you hand your phone to friends or family.
-
OpenAI buys Orchestra Bio, folding the startup's team and technology into Rosalind, its AI model for life sciences research, and the related Rosalind Workbench. Orchestra builds agents that help pharmaceutical teams keep drug development on track.
Why it matters The deal pushes OpenAI further into pharma, where development takes ten to 15 years in the US and coordination is a major cost.

-
Claude designed scorpion toxin binders, producing more than 318,000 designs, of which 211 were tested in the lab. Seventeen met the criteria, and the two strongest bind tightly to Cn2, a toxin from a Mexican scorpion, in work from Anthropic's Claude Science.
Why it matters It is a concrete example of an AI model designing proteins from scratch that survive laboratory testing.
